From a tree around a hundred and twenty years old, the elm top of our Cosmo coffee table began life as a single section of tree trunk in China's Yunnan province, and it still carries every fracture, knot and growth ring of that long history. We have set it on a simple hand-cut base to match so the timber stays the centre of attention — a low, sculptural reclaimed elm coffee table with a naturally live edge and a soft, weathered grey finish. No two are alike, and the deep splits running across the surface are part of its character rather than a fault.
