Choosing a linen sofa
Why linen
Linen is cool in summer, comfortable in winter and gets softer with use. It creases and relaxes as you sit on it, which is part of its appeal: a linen sofa looks lived in, in the best way. Our Snowshill and Burford are both upholstered in premium Belgian linen.
Made to order
Most of our sofas are made to order, so each one is made for you rather than taken from a warehouse. Lead times vary from model to model, so ask us when you order. Now and then we have sofas ready to go, and they appear in this collection when we do.
What size do you need?
Measure the wall or the space and mark out the sofa's footprint on the floor before you choose. Most of our sofas come as 2, 3 or 4 seaters. A deep sofa is wonderful for curling up on but takes more floor, so allow room to walk in front of it. Check doorways, turns in the stairs and any low beams on the way in, especially in an older house.
Colour
Linen colours change with the light, so a shade that looks warm on a screen can read cooler in your room. The best way to choose is to see the fabric in person, in the shop or with a sample sent to you on request.
Looking after linen
Many of our sofas, the Snowshill among them, have fully removable covers that can be machine washed, and can be replaced if you ever want a change. Plump the cushions often to keep their shape, and blot spills straight away rather than rubbing.
See them in person
Our shop on the High Street in Moreton-in-Marsh has sofas to sit on and linens to see. Come and try them before you order.
