Abe Reclaimed Oak Coffee Table
The top is one wide oak plank, cut from timber salvaged out of old farm and barn buildings as they came down to make way for modern ones. The scattered holes in its face are where it was nailed into that structure, and a century up in a building has dried the oak hard and pale.
Splits have opened along the grain and are held with small iron staples driven across them. The legs are thick and handsomely shaped by hand, waisted where they meet the floor, with no frame or stretcher between them.
At 36cm it is lower than most coffee tables, and generous at 151cm long, with room for a tray at one end and somebody sitting at the other.
