A dining table in reclaimed elm, seating eight to ten, with a thick plank top on square legs tied together low down by an H stretcher, so the base is plain and strong and stays clear of the chairs.

The top is the stunning part: wide boards of pale grey elm, with the deep figuring and open grain that only very old timber has, cleaned back and left unsealed. At 260cm long and 100cm wide there is room for a place at each end, and it sits as happily in a big kitchen as in a dining room.

Dust with a dry cloth. Avoid water and household cleaners, which will mark the surface. Keep away from direct heat and strong sunlight, and expect a little movement in very dry rooms.
