The top of our Calla coffee table began life as a single section of old elm in China's Yunnan province, and it still carries every knot, growth ring and old split of that long history. We have set it on a simple hand-cut base so the timber stays the centre of attention, making a low, sculptural reclaimed elm coffee table with a softly weathered grey finish. No two are alike, and the deep marks across the surface are part of its character rather than a fault.
