The top is a single slab of oak cut straight across the trunk, which makes the face of the table end grain: rings turning out from the centre, splits running with them, and a hollow or two left open in the surface.

The outline on this one has been left as the tree made it, swelling out and cutting back in with no attempt to true it up, and it is a stunning thing to look down on. The colour is a deep dry brown and the slab is thick enough to read as a solid block from across a room.

Four handsome round legs, barely worked beyond a trim, hold the top at 40cm, a comfortable height in front of or beside a sofa, and it runs to 86cm across at its widest point.

Care Instructions

Dust with a dry cloth. Avoid water and household cleaners, which will mark the surface. Keep away from direct heat and strong sunlight, and expect a little movement in very dry rooms.
