A counter newly built from reclaimed elm, with a row of six shallow drawers on iron drop handles and a low open shelf beneath, split in two by a central upright. The top overhangs the base at either end and the back is planked, so it stands as well in the middle of a room as against a wall.

We find a top this colour easy to place. The old barn timber has been finished to a pale silvery grey with the figure of the grain running the length of it. The drawers suit cutlery, napkins and candles, and the shelf below gives a second layer of storage while the top stays clear to be styled.

At 238cm it needs a long wall, and its 43cm depth keeps it slim enough for a hallway.

Care Instructions

Dust with a dry cloth. Avoid water and household cleaners, which will mark the surface. Keep away from direct heat and strong sunlight, and expect a little movement in very dry rooms.
