Its long top has mellowed to a soft weathered grey over a century and a half of use, keeping the grain, knots and gentle marks of the original timber. Slim and steady, it makes a handsome hallway console table or a place to set a lamp and a few favourite things behind a sofa, bringing rustic country character to the room.
